Music is more that just a technical moment. When you set up your own studio you have the convenience of being able to create at the spur of the moment. You capture the moment of creation. Honestly, we oftentimes keep our first take which is actually writing or creating the vocals, lyrics, or music on the spot, which can have a magical quality that cannot be recaptured when re-recorded. We have takes with tape hiss and crickets in them because the take was unmistakably the right one. It is subjective and artistic, not processed or stale. When we record in a pro studio we are basically taking a song that is ready to take on a new personality, which it invariably does. Even from one take to the next, on different days, or in our case, different years, the mood of the creative process can vary. We work very organically, if it feels forced it doesn't make it to the album. For The One Hundred, we have selected songs, both new and from the past 22 years that have that quality. Most are recorded in our home studio and others are produced in pro studios. We have mastered all of our albums with Kris Solem in Los Angeles, CA, Jim Blackwood in Tucson, AZ, JJ Golden in Ventura, CA and Grammy Award-Winning Mastering Engineer Gavin Lurssen and Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering in Los Angeles, CA.

History:
The music of Blind Divine is best described as art music . These prolific and experienced artists have embraced a creative style that is as unconventional as it is carefully crafted, allowing subtle nuances to collide with deliberate profoundness. Their musical paintings may be a thirty second interlude designed to lure the listener into an otherworldly dreamscape, where floating rhythms, ethereal vocals, haunting piano, or effected guitars become a palette of many hues, a sonic texture that conjures a visual aesthetic. While others embrace a mix of moody beats and emotional vocals, where the art music becomes the theme of an enigmatic dream that is as strange as it is inescapably familiar in a delicate and abstract world, imbuing an ultra awareness of emotion, love, hate, fear, pain, life, death, elation, or faith, and inviting the imagination to ruminate. 

It's about the process of discovering the beauty in the layers of sound, explains Paula. When I write lyrics and melodies to Daniel's pieces I'm careful to record every note I sing. I capture how the song makes me feel at that moment. There is an unveiling that takes place, it's truly magical . For Daniel, trying to create a visual picture, a mood, a moment in time without thinking about it too much is a challenge. I like to keep the instrumentation classic and organic. I play everything live and avoid sequencing . 

The first album, the 2005 release, Devouring The Beautiful , was released on their own label Mysticus Publishing and a definitive moment and liberating experience, one that has brought forth a transfiguration of spontaneity and creation and features some tracks recorded with guitarist Michael Glidewell. In 2006, Blind Divine released two albums simultaneously, Desire To Destroy , mastered by the first Grammy Award winning mastering engineer, Gavin Lurssen, and  Music For Unmade Movies Vol. 1 . 

Blind Divine's fourth release, Queen Of Venom , is a 12-song emotionally rich offering from Daniel and Paula. They have also been featured on the soundtrack CD for the Clive Barker film, Midnight Meat Train . In 2009, Daniel and Paula released Breathing Spell , which features their 17-year-old son Damian Demetrius Diaz on guitar and drums on two tracks and bassist Jacob Stevens on three tracks.

Their latest release in 2012, The One Hundred , five new albums, featuring one hundred songs, many new and many from the archives of unreleased gems, including some collaborations with some of the most talented musicians in Tucson: Michael Glidewell, DJ Esparza, Damian Demetrius Diaz, Steve Nelson, Jacob Stevens, Amril Fladoos, Henry Zappia, Amy Muñoz Mendoza, Joey Burns of Calexico, Kyle and Rob, and Antonio and Don of Mandingo Warriors. The albums include: Slow In Obeying An Order , Shadow Pins , Music For Unmade Movies Vol. 2 , Snails In Her Hand , and Soul Retriever .

Early in their careers, Paula and Daniel performed live with long time friends Michael Glidewell on guitar, formerly of Black Sun Ensemble, and DJ Esparza on drums. In 2006, bassist Jacob Stevens joined the band and in 2009, lead guitarist and Paula and Daniel's son Damian would take over for Glidewell. In 2011, Amy Muñoz Mendoza would take over bass for Stevens. Blind Divine's live show consists of an equally moving combination of intensely beautiful melodies, hypnotic vocals and swirling guitars with heavy bass and drums, as well as artistic live video with imagery created by Daniel and manipulated live by Adam Cooper Terán, and light performances by Randall Swindell of Ensphere. 

In addition to their album releases, Paula and Daniel have written and produced the entire film score for the award-winning New Zealand feature film, Orphans And Angels , and their music has been licensed for many film and television productions.

Paula and Daniel have become producers of more than just music, they have become a production team, which have collaborated on the design and installation of the Historic Hotel Congress Proscenium stage, the album cover and CD artwork for Payable On Death by Atlantic Records band P.O.D., which sold over 500,000 copies, the album cover artwork for Cardiology by the multi-platinum band Good Charlotte , the book design and layout for Daniel's art books, Triginta Uno Dies, Thirty-One Drawings In Thirty-One Days , Mysterium Fidei and the 2011 release, Anatomy Of Sorrow published by La Luz de Jesus Press and Last Gasp and currently, three prominent public art projects for the City of Phoenix for the innovative Arizona Light Rail. Daniel and Paula are co-owners and curators of the museum and curiosity shop, Sacred Machine in Tucson, Arizona, which features Daniel's art along with an impressive collective of world-renowned guest artists, who frequently exhibit as well.
